Parents, take the trip

Topsail, NC

We had the best time at Topsail Island on our first family beach trip! My family and I would take a trip to Topsail every year when I was a little girl. Those are memories I will never forget and always cherish.

“Talk about gaining a whole new perspective on, “The Circle of Life”. The Lion King has never felt more real y’all.”

We stayed in the most adorable condo where you woke up to the sunrise and ended the day with the sunset. It was a little slice of heaven. We found our condo through HomeAway, which you can find here (they also have an app). HomeAway lead us to Access Realty, which you can find here. We have no complaints with our stay, the customer service. It was smooth as butter!

Watching Olivia play in the sand and swim in the ocean uprooted so many different emotions. Don’t worry, all good things, all good things (any Disney moms catch the reference?). We have been told multiple times to not take Olivia on a trip until she can remember. Their theory, it would be a waste of money. I call that I huge pile of bull. Seeing the look of pure joy and excitement on her face told me everything I need to know; we are taking the trips. Plus, I want to go on trips and just because I am a mom does not mean everything in life stops. I had a child to live life along side my husband and me.

“Parents, take the trip! It’s far more valuable than any dollar. We constantly read over and over the most crucial time of development is infant to young elementary. We read that this is the time that bonding is most important. What better way to bond than a family trip”?

Trips also develop character, patience, and an understanding of the world around us. Am I saying to blow money and not save just to take a trip? NO! We are savers and that security for our family will always be priority, but instead of eating out, or getting that Starbucks drink we are choosing to put that towards a family trip. Man, it.is.worth.it.

Salty kisses, sandy butts, and all. Is it easy? No. Did we bribe her with dum-dums on the drive to Topsail so she would not scream for almost 3 hours? Yes. But, look at that smile.

You cannot talk about a family trip without mentioning food. Am I right? We ate at Sears Landing our second night and it did not disappoint. I honestly believe the atmosphere was the best part. It is located on the sound where people can dock their boats, grab a drink, and a quick bite to eat. It reminded me of my favorite place to eat on the water, The Dockside, in Wilmington. We of course made a pit stop to The Dock Side on the way home.

I cannot leave you without showing you some of the beauty the North Carolina coast offers. These photos are not edited and were taken on my cell phone. North Carolina is just that beautiful.

What are some of y’all’s favorite family trips?
